Inspired by the Great Sphinx of Giza, Karl’s interpretation on this classic monolith is as if the figure were a real being.
Sphinx is cast bronze seated on a golden flecked and veined Brazilian Quartzite tiered base. Her body has a silver nitrate patina. Her headdress features rows of polished bronze and black feather dreadlocks, creating the classic gold and black Egyptian headdress. Her headdress alone took 65 hours to painstakingly sculpt each feather.
